To the women done with boxing themselves in, playing small, or holding themselves back from what they really want (and what they’re meant to do + be in this life)…

I’m cheeky grinning so big. This just feels so right, intimate, and as my friend/designer Meg said, “You knew it was time.” (in an “xoxo, gossip girl” like tone — xoxo, kdo? lol).

The Backstory…

A few years ago, I found my mom’s journal + a few handwritten letters from her early 20s. 

It was like a tiny portal to a woman I’ve never fully known with snippets to help understand my roots and remind me of the free-spirit + heart running through me.

For those who don’t know… my mom has Multiple Sclerosis (50+ years) and dementia, and a lot of her personality (and memory) started to change before I was old/wise enough to ask and get to know the lens with which she saw the world + the heart of who she was/is. 

The letters + notes felt like secret codes.

After devouring them, I thought about what it would be like to receive letters from her with her stories, wisdoms, & perspectives on the different seasons of my life now.

Then… letters from the future/past arrived.

Fast forward to a business mastermind where we were instructed to write a letter to ourselves, which then would be randomly mailed to us at a future date. 

5 months later… 💌 “You’ve got mail!” delivered. The peace, encouragement and perspective in that letter when it arrived was wildly on point — and just *fun* (we really don’t have to take things / growth / healing so seriously).

Over time, I couldn’t shake this idea…

What if letters & postcards were magically delivered from our wise(r) future selves with soulful musings, life secrets, hilarious but honest stories, and juicy cliff notes — that bend perspectives, help remind us of our magic and potential, and show us what’s actually possible in this world — in life *and* business. 

I don’t know about you, but I still need it. 

For my next evolution(s), expansion (life & biz), and even self-expression. 

The energy, the words, the honesty.

The extra boost of courage, confidence, self-trust, and a dash of audacity.  

Hence…

The Lioness

Note: Props to the hubs for coming up with the name Lioness Letters. I resisted… and then succumbed with the symbolism & meaning.

ASTROLOGICALLY

I’m a Leo (a lion) through and through… The fire, the hair, the joy of living life FULL out (**by my own rules**). Protective & champion of my people. But also… a deep desire for wild courage, kindness, leadership, generosity, & creation — from myself and my pride pack (this community).

BIBLICALLY

(I’ve got range baby :)) The Lion of Judah is a beacon of light, courage, bravery, agility and dignity. 🙏🏻🙌🏻

SYMBOLICALLY

The lioness is a symbol of female strength, community, and courage— fierce but rooted in gentleness. 

Intention: *This* energy flowing to + through us… in letters. Yes. 1000x yes.

An Ode to Letters 💌

Longer form content (i.e. more than a 60 second reel but < a 20-minute podcast).

Long(er) content soothes our nervous systems and gives our brains + hearts the space to actually integrate what we’re learning + consuming. For me? The *right* long form content leaves me energized, thinking differently, inspired, taking action and often a few more tools in my belt vs. speed, chaos, depleting dopamine hits and not remembering much. Design vs. default, baby. 

SUBSTACK

I first thought it was one more app/platform I didn’t need. But this past summer I got hooked with 1 paid subscription and now I get it…

I’m obsessed with the few Substack subscriptions I have. It’s the modern day, “You’ve got mail!” 📬 that we actually want to get! No spam, ads, bills, or to-dos (hello, email). My li’l app has become a self-curated surprise delivered that I can’t wait to dive into and savor… that makes my life truly better. 

It’s one of the *very* few apps I have notifications on my phone turned on. Each time… the excitement feels like a high school crush just texted me.

Not on substack? Don’t worry. You’ll get the Lioness Letters delivered to you email inbox just like we always have. But, if you’re looking for an archive, on-the-go app, or to connect with me/us— Substack just takes us to the next level.

Where is the Lioness Letters headed? I’m not fully sure… maybe archived letters. Maybe a paid Substack, voice note audio drops, or (??)... I’m okay with not knowing for now. 

But one way or another… these letters are droppin’. 

Because it’s safe to be seen trying — even when we don’t know all the details and we can’t control the outcome.
